Let's talk about cups..

Metaphoric ones, anyway..

So I have these friends.. For shits and gigs lets call them Drea, Samaantha and Deidre. :) Now, these friends I have are deeply invested in my metaphoric cup. They are constantly checking on me to ask if my cup is low and what I've been doing to refill it.

Do you get where I'm going with this?!

I absolutely can not stress enough how important it is to have these types of people in your life! Sometimes we absolutely run ourselves into the ground without thinking about how empty our cups are. And sometimes, through no fault of our own, our lives are filled with people who empty our cups (family, especially).

Some of us care so much about others that we forget to stop and care about ourselves.

What are you doing to replenish yourself? Can you name a person in your life that recognizes when you are falling short? If you can not, at the moment you realize that your cup is empty what actions do you take?

Let's talk about me for a moment: this week at work has been a LONG one and to top it all off, I pulled a 24 hour shift on Friday. Talk about exhausted! Previous to finding out about my shift, I had committed to attending my beautiful Yardie (Jamaican) friend's baby shower and I try my hardest to keep my commitments. So I caught a few zzz's, got my ass up, got dolled up and head to the baby shower. Listen. The party was lit! The DJ was spinning pure chunes and I truly had a blast. Afterward, I popped in on my friend of over a decade, Gutta Butta Pecan V (or simply Vera lol). Seeing her and her family always brightens my mood! Thats how I turned this draining week around..

Please, please, please do not let your cup stay empty for too long.

You can not pour from an empty cup.

xo,

Glen
